Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree preferred with 1-3+ years or equivalent hands-on technical experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- In-depth understanding and considerable experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with professional proficiency in English.
- Proven track record of repairing complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
- Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
- Familiarity with ultra-high vacuum technology and phenomena.
- Ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as needed.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check, including a drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation of cutting-edge equipment and adhere to testing protocols to ensure proper functioning.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance visits at customer locations.
- Offer diagnosis and repair assistance to customers and field personnel.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, system users, and team members.
- Travel on short notice to customer sites to troubleshoot issues or support fellow service staff.
- Complete and submit field service documentation thoroughly.
- Provide system maintenance training to customers and users.
- Collaborate with product quality teams across various functions.
- Update and revise Thermo Fisher system documentation as necessary.
- Contribute insights for reports, including identifying and isolating system issues.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and training resource.
