Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field or a comparable combination of education and technical experience
- Over 3 years of practical technical experience in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of intricate analytical instruments such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or equivalent systems
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum systems and high-voltage equipment
- Valid drivers license required
- Willingness to travel up to 75% within the assigned territory
- Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and operate in laboratory environments
- Proficiency in English is essential; additional languages are a plus
- Strong skills in electronics and mechanical troubleshooting with the capability to diagnose issues down to the component level
- Competent in reading and interpreting technical documentation, electrical schematics, and system diagrams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and service management software
- Competence in effectively training customers on equipment operations and maintenance
- Proven track record of achieving customer satisfaction targets
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, repair, calibration, testing, and maintenance of electron microscopy systems, including Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM), and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems
- Identify and rectify complex mechanical, electronic, vacuum, and software-related system issues
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability
- Act as a primary technical resource for designated customers and territories
- Cultivate and sustain positive working relationships with customers, system users, and internal teams
- Offer technical support to customers and assist fellow field service engineers with troubleshooting tasks
- Travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes at short notice, to resolve service concerns
- Prepare detailed field service reports and maintain precise service documentation
- Provide training to customers on system operation, maintenance, and best practices
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards in both laboratory and industrial settings
- Supply constructive feedback to product quality, engineering, and service teams regarding system performance and improvement prospects
