Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in electronic systems.
- Field Service Engineer I: 1+ years of practical technical experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or calibrating advanced analytical equipment like SEM, TEM, FIB, or comparable systems.
- Field Service Engineer II: 3+ years of hands-on experience with installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or calibrating intricate analytical instrumentation.
- Field Service Engineer III: 5+ years of experience supporting sophisticated analytical systems with a proven track record in troubleshooting complex system-level problems.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% within the designated area.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and function in laboratory settings.
- Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
- Preferably possess experience with SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar advanced analytical systems.
- Familiarity with diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
- Experience with high voltage equipment.
- Strong skills in electronics and mechanical troubleshooting, with the ability to pinpoint issues down to the component level.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, schematics, and system diagrams.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and service management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously in a field-focused environment.
- Capacity to train and assist customers in system operation.
- Experience in documenting service activities and generating detailed reports.
- Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols and commitment to quality standards.
- Proven success in contributing to customer satisfaction goals.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, repair, and calibrate electron microscopy systems, including Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM), and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure systems perform optimally.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex system issues, focusing on electronics, vacuum systems, high voltage components, and integrated software.
- Provide technical support to customers and collaborate with fellow field service engineers to address service challenges.
- Build strong relationships with customers, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and system uptime.
- Travel to customer sites to install equipment, perform repairs, and assist in system operations.
- Document service activities and submit detailed field service reports.
- Offer training and technical guidance to customers regarding system operation and maintenance.
- Adhere to safety procedures and quality standards while servicing equipment in laboratory settings.
- Provide feedback to engineering, product quality, and service leadership teams to foster continuous product improvement.
- Assist with updates to technical documentation and service procedures.
- For more experienced roles, responsibilities may extend to mentoring junior engineers, leading complex installations, and acting as a technical escalation resource within the service team.
