Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline; Masters or PhD preferred
- Bachelors degree with over 5 years of pertinent industry experience
- Masters degree or PhD with 1-2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in downstream bioprocessing, purification development, bioprocess engineering, or manufacturing support within biopharmaceutical sectors
- Proficient hands-on experience in downstream purification operations such as column chromatography and ultrafiltration/diafiltration
- Extensive familiarity with AKTA chromatography systems and UNICORN software, including method development, execution, and data analysis
- Solid grasp of downstream process fundamentals and ability to interpret purification performance and trends
- Competence in analyzing and summarizing experimental data through appropriate statistical and scientific methodologies
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, able to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- High attention to detail and dedication to quality, data integrity, and standard operating procedures
- Experience with mechanistic modeling, data-driven modeling, or machine learning for bioprocess optimization is highly advantageous
- Familiarity with DOE-based study design and multivariate data analysis is preferred
- Background in process scale-up, implementation, or technology transfer activities is a strong plus
- Previous experience engaging in technical discussions with external clients is beneficial
Responsibilities
- Design and implement downstream experiments focused on purification process evaluation and refinement, emphasizing chromatography and UF/DF operations
- Develop, enhance, and execute chromatography methods using AKTA systems, including the creation and adjustment of UNICORN control and analysis methods
- Assess process performance using experimental data to detect trends, sensitivities, and areas for enhancement
- Aid in activities related to process scale-up, implementation, and transfer through meticulously documented experimental execution and data analysis
- Troubleshoot downstream unit operations, equipment, and processes using sound engineering and scientific principles
- Generate technical documentation including experimental plans, protocols, reports, and presentations
- Convey experimental results and technical suggestions effectively to multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients
- Contribute to the assessment and demonstration of Thermo Fisher technologies within the Bioprocessing Collaboration Center
