Must:
We require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree along with two (2) years of experience in compensation; alternatively, a master's degree with some experience in compensation is acceptable. Applicants should possess strong abilities to establish and sustain effective working relationships with colleagues, including faculty and staff. Effective organizational, analytical, multitasking, and interpersonal skills are essential. We look for individuals who are self-directed, detail-oriented, and committed to quality and precision. Exceptional customer service skills are necessary, alongside the ability to communicate effectively with departmental representatives and employees at all levels on a variety of complex topics. A comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local laws governing compensation, along with advanced knowledge of current job markets and trends, is essential. Candidates should also have expertise in compensation principles and practices, the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters, and high proficiency in Excel. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate a capacity to rapidly learn new systems and applications.

Responsibilities

As a Compensation Analyst II, I oversee the administration of staff compensation and classification programs and projects for the University under limited supervision. I ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws while independently analyzing and evaluating positions for appropriate titles, pay grades, and organizational hierarchy to ensure both external competitiveness and internal consistency. I benchmark University staff positions and compile information for salary surveys. Additionally, I consult with departments regarding classification, compensation practices, promotions, and pay-related issues while providing guidance to HR Business Partners. I am also responsible for offering guidance and training to entry-level Analysts and HR Business Partners.

The University of Alabama is in the process of transitioning its on-premises finance and HCM ERP systems to a modern cloud platform. This position is time-limited based on the project's duration due to the need for additional staffing; however, it has the potential to evolve into a regular employment opportunity at the University.
