Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Over 4 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics engineering, preferably in healthcare.
- Advanced skills in SQL and substantial experience with Python for data engineering tasks.
- Proven experience in designing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines and developing curated analytics datasets.
- Strong grasp of data modeling, warehousing/lakehouse principles, and contemporary data management practices.
- Demonstrated capability to lead large-scale, complex projects and achieve results in high-pressure settings.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the design and implementation of enterprise-quality data pipelines (ETL/ELT) utilizing SQL and Python, catering to high-volume, complex healthcare data.
- Construct and enhance a modern lakehouse architecture using Azure services and Databricks, incorporating Delta Lake patterns and performance optimization strategies.
- Establish and sustain a medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) for data ingestion, standardization, and curated semantic datasets intended for analytics and downstream usage.
- Design scalable transformation and modeling layers employing dbt (or equivalent tools) while adhering to best practices in data modeling (Kimball, dimensional modeling, star schemas, conformed dimensions).
- Set and uphold standards for data quality and reliability, including tests, reconciliation, service level agreement (SLA) monitoring, anomaly detection, lineage, and metadata.
- Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices for data pipelines and dbt projects using Git-based workflows, automated testing, and release pipelines via Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions.
- Collaborate with teams across reporting & analytics, data science, data governance, and platform systems & architecture to support self-service access to trusted datasets and expedite insight delivery.
- Provide technical leadership in architectural decisions, security/privacy issues, performance enhancement, and cost control.
- Draft and maintain technical documentation, data contracts, and operational runbooks; contribute to the establishment of engineering standards and patterns.
- Coordinate across medical center and university divisions while assessing external tools and partners to integrate innovative methods and enhance delivery.

In this role, you will play a critical role as a senior technical contributor for various complex data and analytics initiatives, aligning technological solutions with clinical and operational priorities.
