Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in software development.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.JS).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Experience with both front-end and back-end application development.
- Familiarity with software testing methodologies and documentation best practices.
- Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning about emerging technologies and industry trends.
Responsibilities
- Develop clean, efficient, and maintainable software applications that meet user requirements and specifications.
- Work with the team to convert user requirements into technical specifications and system designs.
- Create both front-end and back-end components to ensure high functionality and performance of applications.
- Design and implement thorough testing plans to detect and fix bugs prior to software deployment.
- Generate comprehensive technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle to facilitate maintenance and future enhancements.
- Engage in code reviews to ensure coding standards and quality are met while promoting knowledge exchange among team members.
- Investigate and resolve intricate technical challenges in collaboration with the team.
- Liaise with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective development cycles and project cohesion.
- Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends, applying relevant tools in development processes.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve development efficiency and software quality.
- Provide ongoing support and incident resolution for University Libraries applications as required.

Our Applications Developer will play a crucial role within the Application Development & Operations team, focusing on the design, development, and maintenance of our applications portfolio.
