Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory or lead mechanic experience in a hotel or similar setting, or a technical certificate with at least 1 year of supervisory or lead mechanic experience.
- Stationary engineers license if mandated by local regulations.
- Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently lift up to 50 pounds and/or constantly handle up to 20 pounds.
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming demeanor at all times.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective with staff and guests.
- Aptitude for listening, understanding, and addressing concerns of employees and guests.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize departmental responsibilities.
- Friendly and service-oriented approach in all interactions with guests and employees.
- Attendance at mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions is essential.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Regular attendance in accordance with Highgate Hotel Standards and scheduling needs.
- High standards of personal grooming and appearance, including wearing nametags.
- Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to facilitate safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Commitment to productivity, identifying issues, and contributing to implementing solutions.
- Skilled problem solver, adept at anticipating and addressing issues as necessary.
- Ability to comprehend and assess complex information and data to achieve objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the engineering department.
- Develop and execute plans for maintaining the property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in a safe and satisfactory condition.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise and train all engineering personnel in customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention.
- Create and manage all engineering staff schedules.
- Develop and adhere to the departments annual budget.
- Assist in forming financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
- Establish and implement a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Actively engage in energy conservation initiatives.
- Review guest and meeting planner feedback to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Support the management of all vendor contracts overseen by the engineering department.
- Make sure room maintenance requests are addressed quickly and kindly.
- Respond immediately to all alarms to determine the cause and status and report findings to the Front Desk, taking necessary action.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
- Participate in all Highgate Hotel programs and efforts.
- Lead or take part in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
