- I have at least 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related field; or I possess a 4-year college degree along with at least 1 year of related management experience; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related management experience.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is essential.
- A Stationary Engineer’s license is necessary if mandated by local regulations.
- Proficiency in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills is required.
- I understand that long hours may sometimes be necessary.
- I can exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force consistently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- I may need to travel for company-related business occasionally.
- I maintain a warm and welcoming demeanor at all times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with all levels of employees and guests in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- I can actively listen, comprehend, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- I adeptly multitask and prioritize departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- I approach interactions with guests and employees attentively, courteously, and service-oriented.
- Attendance at all hotel-required meetings and training sessions is expected.
- I am available for M.O.D. (Manager on Duty) coverage when needed.
- Regular attendance compliant with Highgate Hotel Standards is vital, varying according to hotel needs.
- I maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing nametags.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations is essential.
- I strive for productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- I am skilled at addressing issues by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving them as necessary.
- I can comprehend and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to achieve relevant objectives.
- I understand the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities
- I supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, Standard Operating Procedures, and Loss Prevention Standards.
- I create, approve, and publish all Engineering staff schedules according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- I develop and adhere to an annual budget for my department.
- I create financial forecasts and actively participate in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
- I formulate and execute plans to keep property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in an acceptable state of repair.
- I ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal laws.
- I create and implement a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- I ensure that all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified per Highgate Hotel standards.
- I address room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
- I follow up on all alarms immediately to ascertain the exact location and cause, assessing emergency status and reporting to the Front Desk. I take immediate action as needed.
- I assist with special projects and renovations as necessary.
- I actively participate in energy conservation programs.
- I review all guest and meeting planner comment cards to ensure problems are promptly identified and resolved.
- I ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- I manage all vendor contracts controlled by the engineering department.
- I support and engage in all Highgate Hotel programs.
- I lead and participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
