Requirements
Must:
- 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred
- Masters or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related analytical field
- Expertise in statistical modeling, inference, experimentation, and creating machine learning algorithms using Python
- Proficient in SQL and adept at navigating databases to extract pertinent attributes
- Familiarity with Unix and Git, and best practices for managing codebases
- Comprehensive knowledge of the analytical solution lifecycle, from requirements gathering to monitoring and validation in production
- Experience with building modeling solutions in cloud-native environments, such as Google Cloud Platform, is advantageous
- Background in software or agent development is a plus
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to translate intricate technical subjects into business solutions and strategies, as well as convert business requirements into technical specifications
- Proven experience in leading project execution and driving changes to core business processes through the innovative application of quantitative methods
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and thoroughly evaluate LLM-powered solutions, including prompt engineering, agent-based workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to achieve financial goals and enhance the customer journey
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to uphold the vision and foster a culture that values analytics as a key corporate asset
- Lead the deployment of machine learning and applied AI solutions, including traditional predictive models and generative AI implementations, in close cooperation with data science, engineering, and business partners
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new data sources and analytical techniques to maintain a competitive edge
- Contribute to the successful execution of strategies to meet targeted business objectives
- Gain understanding of The Hartfords formal and informal structures, business processes, and data resources within your area of expertise
- Stay informed about research methods and experiment with cutting-edge tools relevant to the teams function (e.g., new modeling approaches, LLM capabilities)
- Provide economic, qualitative, and statistical support to guarantee model outputs and AI-driven recommendations are accurate, interpretable, and actionable for business decisions
- Introduce and advocate best practices to steer our Data Science and Data Engineering workflows
