Requirements
Must:
- Masters degree and 5+ years of industry experience or PhD and 3+ years in machine learning or data science with at least 1 year focused on Generative AI.
- Strong expertise in Python and contemporary AI/ML frameworks.
- Proven experience in designing experiments, conducting evaluations, and interpreting empirical results.
- Practical experience with Generative AI frameworks and platforms such as Vertex AI, ADK, LangChain/LangGraph, RAG pipelines, Hugging Face, and OpenAI APIs.
- Solid understanding of agent workflows and tool-augmented LLMs.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering and model controllability.
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) design considerations.
- Skills in generative model evaluation and benchmarking methods.
- Experience collaborating with engineering and MLOps teams to deploy prototypes into production systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship; STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research in Generative AI, focusing on emerging models, architectures, and inference strategies tailored for enterprise applications.
- Lead investigations and experimentation in areas such as agent-based workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, long-context modeling, and prompting strategies.
- Design and implement rigorous experimental frameworks for assessing model quality, robustness, latency, cost, and reliability using various evaluation metrics.
- Create benchmarks and develop reproducible pipelines for comparing vendor models, open-source alternatives, and internal methodologies.
- Rapidly prototype research concepts utilizing modern GenAI tools including Vertex AI, LangChain, RAG frameworks, and OpenAI APIs.
- Translate research findings into actionable GenAI capabilities, collaborating closely with engineering and MLOps teams to ensure scalability and responsible AI practices.
- Contribute to the enterprise GenAI roadmap by identifying gaps, risks, and potential opportunities based on ongoing research and industry evolution.
- Partner with stakeholders from Data Science, Technology, and Business teams to align research efforts with practical operational challenges.
