Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of experience in application development and programming
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing programming support and on-call assistance
- Proficient in COBOL, MVS, JCL, and IBM mainframe environments
- Proven experience in designing, documenting, and coordinating changes to legacy systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop, install, and evaluate application software on mainframes
- Familiarity with delivering technical architecture solutions
- Experience in collaborating with application architects and developers to ensure precise design requirements
- Capability to define and develop project requirements, deliverables, and detailed solution designs
- Strong analytical skills for feasibility assessments and compatibility evaluations
- Experience in quality control for project deliverables
- Skilled in defining, designing, and developing complex system specifications
- Proficient in testing, debugging, and implementing application programs
- Understanding of hardware limitations and defining system specifications
- Experience in designing, implementing, and modifying operating systems and utility software
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems project management
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing complex software programs
- Familiarity with vendor cost analysis for products
- Ability to customize sophisticated purchased applications
- Awareness of current industry practices and technologies
- Experience providing technical consultation on systems to clients and organizations
- Experience in mentoring and providing guidance to junior staff
- At least 1 year of experience with CICS and COBOL programs as web services via CICS Transaction Server (CTS)
- Hands-on expertise with CICS, TSO, CHANGEMAN, SQL, DB2, Abend-Aid, MainView, and Xpediter CICS
- Familiarity with Easytrieve and FileAid
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience in healthcare IT, particularly with claims, payer systems, Medicaid, or Medicare preferred
Responsibilities
- Support the COBOL mainframe environment and its operations
- Design, document, and manage necessary changes to legacy modules
- Develop, install, and evaluate mainframe application software
- Provide technical architecture solutions and ensure design accuracy
- Collaborate within project teams to define project requirements and deliverables
- Analyze feasibility and assess compatibility with existing projects
- Oversee quality control of project outcomes
- Define and create complex systems requirements and specifications
- Test, debug, and implement software applications per client needs
- Evaluate current hardware capabilities and define system specifications
- Plan and execute the analysis and resolution of business challenges with automated systems
- Design and modify operating systems and utility software to meet client needs
- Analyze and implement projects for LAN and/or WAN systems
- Develop, troubleshoot, and analyze complex software applications
- Conduct cost analyses of vendor-supplied products for efficiency
- Customize advanced purchased applications based on requirements
- Research industry practices and technology to support business needs
- Prepare recommendations for new technologies for relevant stakeholders
- Offer technical guidance and consultation to clients and other organizations
- Mentor less experienced team members and provide work direction
- Participate in all phases of software development lifecycle activities
