- A minimum of 5 years in progressive facilities management within a hotel or similar field; alternatively, a 4-year degree with at least 1 year of related management experience or a 2-year degree with 3 or more years of related management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Stationary Engineer’s license as required by local regulations.
- Essential skills in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance.
- Ability to exert physical effort, occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and constantly up to 20 pounds.
- Willingness to travel for company-related business as needed.
- A warm and approachable demeanor is crucial.
- Proficiency in both verbal and written communication with employees and guests across all levels, maintaining a courteous and service-oriented approach.
- Good listening skills to understand and address concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental tasks effectively.
- Regular attendance is expected in line with Highgate Hotel Standards, varying according to hotel needs.
- Compliance with personal appearance standards, including wearing nametags.
- Understanding and adhering to Highgate Hotel regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Capacity to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve problems when necessary.
- Ability to analyze complex information and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities
- Oversee and train all Engineering staff in customer service, empowerment, standard operating procedures, and loss prevention practices.
- Create, approve, and post engineering staff schedules aligned with Highgate Hotel standards.
- Establish and adhere to the departments annual budget.
- Develop financial forecasts and engage in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
- Formulate and implement plans to ensure that property, equipment, grounds, and other assets are properly maintained.
- Guarantee compliance with all local, state, and federal laws concerning hotel operations.
- Create and execute a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- Ensure that emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified as per Highgate Hotel standards.
- Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
- Respond immediately to all alarms to assess the situation, report findings to the Front Desk, and take necessary actions.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
- Actively engage in energy conservation initiatives.
- Review guest and meeting planner comment cards to ensure that issues are identified and addressed swiftly.
- Ensure adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Manage all vendor contracts supervised by the engineering department.
- Participate in all Highgate Hotel programs and lead efforts within the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
