Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Five years of directly related experience.
- Additional experience may substitute for minimum education requirements:
- Associates degree with seven years of related experience.
- High School Diploma with nine years of related experience.
- Proficiency with Cisco routers, switches, wireless devices, firewalls, and telephony.
- Familiarity with Meraki firewalls and wireless access points.
- Knowledge of software used for creating network diagrams such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain campus LAN, WAN, and Data Center equipment to ensure optimal availability.
- Oversee next generation firewalls and VPN appliances.
- Enhance monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting skillsets.
- Collaborate with the Office of Information Security to maintain network security.
- Review security alerts, coordinate with vendors on vulnerabilities, and implement updates to network equipment.
- Act as a senior member of the Network Services team, providing technical guidance to colleagues.
- Coordinate and implement design activities for complex networking projects.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Network Services to create and review network designs and construction blueprints.
- Work with the Project Management Team and attend construction meetings as necessary.
- Design, engineer, and oversee complex communication and routing protocols.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance automation, efficiency, and security.
- Document and maintain designs, procedures, and repairs.
- Gather feedback from clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Meet with vendors to discuss current technologies, trends, and strategies.
- Assist the manager in developing project work plans and timelines, identifying personnel and equipment needs.
- Prepare status, problem, and progress reports for management and users.
- Engage in training and professional development opportunities.
- Assume Network Services Manager responsibilities in their absence.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
