Data Center Inventory and RMA Specialist

- Oversee precise inventory management of critical spare parts, including SFPs, fiber jumpers, hard drives, RAM, power cables, and tools. - Maintain accuracy in the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) database and ERP systems, updating in real-time as assets transition in and out of the Ready for Use state. - Perform weekly and monthly audits of inventory and data center assets to ensure complete accuracy. - Assist with procurement by monitoring stock levels and notifying the Data Center Manager when reorders are necessary. - Initiate and oversee the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process with vendors such as Dell, HPE, Cisco, and Arista. - Ensure secure handling and tracking of defective storage media, while adhering to data privacy regulations (e.g., NIST 800-88). - Manage loading dock activities, including unboxing, palletizing, and coordinating with courier services for outgoing repairs. - Serve as the main contact for third-party vendor technicians, scheduling visits and facilitating necessary access for repairs. - Supervise vendor technicians as they carry out hardware replacements, ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols. - Confirm that vendor repairs meet our standards and that all replaced components are documented before technicians leave the site. - Collaborate with Data Center Technicians to recognize hardware failure patterns and ensure prompt processing of Dead on Arrival equipment. - Conduct initial assessments on returned or refurbished equipment to verify functionality before returning it to stock.
