Must:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a mainframe operator
- At least two (2) years of experience in operating and managing IBM System p-Series/z-Series platform
- One (1) year of experience in automating system monitoring and maintenance procedures
- Experience in ITM System Monitoring or a similar role
- Two (2) years of experience with Windows servers, Linux servers, and IBM Mainframe z/OS operating systems
- Proficient in keeping detailed logs in ticketing systems
- Strong decision-making and organizational awareness skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Technology skills including IBM, Z/OS, CICS, NATURAL/SUPERNAT, IMS, DB2, ADABAS, ACF2, ENTIREX, SMP/E, ASSEMBLER/COBOL/REXX, CA SPOOL, JCL, CONTROL-M, IMS & DB2 BMC Tools, IMS DB/DC, VTAM, TCPIP, NETVIEW, HMC/HOD/IODF, Tivoli, MVM, JES2, ESF, Linux, Unix, p-Series, z-Series, and VTS.
Responsibilities
- Operate under the guidance of the Information Technology Systems Operations Supervisor
- Start and stop system tasks and monitor system consoles for any anomalies
- Collaborate with system programming and production control personnel to maintain system integrity
- Manage the initiation and termination of major subsystems, including transaction processing systems and databases
- Conduct orderly shutdowns and startups of the system and its workloads as necessary
- Communicate with system programmers to determine appropriate actions and with production control analysts to ensure proper workflow completion
Description
We are seeking an experienced Information Technology Mainframe Operator to join our team in Downey, CA, on a 12+ month contract, with potential for extension. This hybrid role will require you to complete an onsite training program lasting 4 to 8 weeks. We offer a dynamic 24/7 IT enterprise environment, requiring flexibility in shift scheduling, including morning, swing, and graveyard shifts.
