Requirements
Must:
- 3–7 years of practical experience in network engineering or administration
- Proven experience in supporting Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls within production settings
- Extensive knowledge in managing Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, firewall, and SD-WAN solutions
- Hands-on experience with Azure networking in enterprise or hybrid-cloud environments
- Strong grasp of networking principles including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP
- Familiarity with VPN technologies (both site-to-site and remote access)
- Background in medium-to-large enterprise network environments
- Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant certifications are preferred (PCNSA/PCNSE, CCNA/CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate)
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and oversee LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud connectivity environments
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls, including policies, NAT, VPNs, and threat prevention
- Administer and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Design and provide support for Azure networking services such as VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security; proactively address issues
- Diagnose complex network, firewall, and hybrid connectivity challenges
- Collaborate with systems, cloud, security, and application teams to facilitate infrastructure initiatives
- Engage in network architecture planning, enhancements, and lifecycle management
- Maintain network documentation, standards, and schematics
- Offer operational support including incident response, change management, and on-call escalation as necessary
Description
At TalentFish, we are seeking a skilled Network Engineer for a 6-month W2 contract role based in Evanston, IL, with a hybrid work schedule of two days onsite per week. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting secure and highly available enterprise network infrastructures across on-premises and cloud platforms, ensuring reliable connectivity and security for critical business systems. We offer a competitive salary ranging from $70 to $80 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance and paid time off.
