Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience - 7-10 years of progressive IT experience, with hands-on technical responsibilities - Experience with cybersecurity and data protection measures - Familiarity with vendor-managed or hybrid outsourced/in-house IT environments - Knowledge of regulatory compliance, specifically HIPAA privacy and security - Strong grasp of technology risk management and internal controls - Proven ability to execute system upgrades, migrations, or platform transitions effectively while coordinating with vendors and internal teams - **Highly Preferred Experience** - Direct experience managing, supporting, or implementing a benefit administration system in multiemployer, TPA, carrier, or benefits administration contexts - Experience in systems related to Health & Welfare or defined benefit pension plans - Proficiency in managing processes related to Eligibility and enrollment, Employer contributions, Claims data interfaces, Pension administration and calculations - Experience in leading or participating in BAS conversions, upgrades, or SaaS migrations - Background in supporting multiemployer benefit plans or ERISA-governed organizations, with additional expertise in healthcare, finance, or benefits administration systems - Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and possession of certifications such as Security+, CISA, CISM, CISSP, or similar

Responsibilities

- Act as the internal owner and expert for the Fund Offices core applications, including the benefit administration system and related tools - Manage configuration of the benefit administration system, address issues, maintain data integrity, and liaise with vendors - Drive system upgrades, migrations, and refresh processes through direct configuration, testing, and troubleshooting - Oversee third-party SaaS system upgrades, ensuring vendor activities are well-coordinated and executed - Create and refine documentation, workflows, and controls to bolster operations and audit readiness - Collaborate with teams to enhance systems, reporting, and workflow efficiency - Develop and maintain operational and management reports to meet business and compliance needs - Facilitate and supervise application integrations and data exchanges with external vendors, ensuring technical capability for troubleshooting - Oversee Fund Office technology systems supported by outsourced providers, including infrastructure, servers, and cloud environments - Act as the internal technical lead for infrastructure design and standards, irrespective of outsourcing - Evaluate the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and risks of outsourced infrastructure services, assessing the feasibility of bringing certain functions in-house - Directly manage user provisioning, access controls, and role-based security in coordination with vendors - Ensure system availability, performance, backup, and disaster recovery measures are established and tested - Maintain relevant technical knowledge to troubleshoot, verify vendor work, and manage in-house infrastructure tasks if needed - Develop and implement the Fund Offices IT strategy, technology roadmap, and annual IT budget focusing on practical implementation and risk reduction - Align technology efforts with operational needs, compliance regulations, and Trustee priorities - Formulate and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring adherence in practice - Assist Board and Trustee technology needs, emphasizing reliability and ease of use - Lead cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring security controls are implemented and monitored - Maintain compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules through appropriate safeguards - Manage incident response procedures, alongside conducting routine security assessments - Supervise vendor management, overseeing contracts, agreements, and performance to ensure alignment with Fund requirements - Support audit processes related to IT controls and data integrity

We are currently seeking a Director of Information Technology to lead our IT department from our Richmond, Virginia office.
