Requirements
Must:
- 5-15 years of experience in WiFi operations, wireless engineering, or carrier-grade network support.
- Hands-on experience with WiFi Controllers (Cisco WLC/Catalyst 9800, Aruba Mobility Master/Conductor, Juniper Mist, or similar).
- Proficiency with AAA/RADIUS platforms, preferably Linux-based (FreeRADIUS, ISE, ClearPass, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with WAG/iWAG, mobile offload, public WiFi, or Hotspot 2.0/Passpoint ecosystems.
- Knowledge of routing and switching principles: vendor-agnostic experience with BGP, OSPF, VLANs, trunking, HA, redundancy, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Layers 1-7, diagnosing issues in controllers, AAA, RF, transport, or core systems.
- Comfortable drafting and executing Methods of Procedure (MOPs), implementing changes in live environments, and coordinating rollback plans.
- Basic-to-intermediate proficiency with Linux CLI (systemctl, journalctl, log analysis).
- Experience with Python and/or Ansible for automating workflows.
Responsibilities
- Carry out release engineering activities for new hardware, software, and firmware across WiFi controllers, AAA platforms, access gateways, and network infrastructure.
- Evaluate and enhance network architecture change plans, implement upgrades, and develop/maintain Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for release processes.
- Lead or assist in troubleshooting break/fix issues across WiFi core components, including controllers, APs, authentication systems, WAG/iWAG, load balancers, and routing/switching elements.
- Commission and decommission WiFi network hardware and services as part of migration programs and modernization efforts, including WiFi 7.
- Ensure support for public SSID and mobile offload systems, maintaining seamless roaming, authentication reliability, and high service availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (core engineering, RF engineering, wireless operations, automation) during escalations, releases, and post-maintenance assessments.
- Assist in developing automation tools using Python or Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for high-priority service events.
Description
We are looking for a talented WiFi Core Release Engineer to provide support for a nationwide, carrier-grade WiFi and AAA infrastructure. This role centers on break/fix operations, controller upgrades, and release engineering across various WiFi core platforms and public SSID networks. You will work in close collaboration with engineering, planning, mobility core, automation, and anomaly-detection teams to ensure highly reliable wireless connectivity for millions of users. This is an impactful position with significant visibility among leadership and other network teams. We offer a hybrid work environment in Greenwood Village, CO, and a pay range of $50.00 - $70.00/hr along with benefits including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) retirement plan, and more.
