Requirements
Must:
- BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is mandatory
- AutoDesk certification in AutoCAD or Revit, or strong skills in Microsoft Visio is essential
- At least 5 years of experience in designing, planning, implementing, and maintaining high-speed network cabling systems and IT facilities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or Visio is critical
Responsibilities
- Assess existing Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) to ensure alignment with current Department of Defense (DoD) standards
- Identify and gather IT infrastructure requirements (such as pathways, spaces, cabling, power, cooling) for new or existing PDS installation requests
- Generate comprehensive design documentation including floor plans, rack elevations, installation specifications, statements of work, budget estimates, and project timelines
- Present and review design packages with internal teams and relevant customer stakeholders
- Collaborate with contracts teams, facilities staff, and installation partners to execute approved designs
- Conduct pre-construction design reviews, quality checks, and post-construction inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Coordinate construction activities and the implementation of telecommunications systems for both classified and unclassified environments
- Organize site surveys, installation schedules, security escorts, and necessary inspections with customers and operations partners
- Lead or assist with daily operations related to projects under your oversight
- Work closely with internal design teams to explore opportunities for enhancing infrastructure and service delivery
- Provide assistance to internal IT teams as necessary to support ongoing operations
Description
We are seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of federal and defense-related technology projects in Laurel, MD. This position emphasizes support for Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards, encompassing a variety of telecommunications and network infrastructure initiatives. Our compensation for this role ranges from $62.50 to $72.11 per hour, with benefits that may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a robust 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, a health spending account, and transportation benefits, among others.
