Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience leading complex Tier 1 application upgrades
- End-to-end ownership of upgrades from outdated application versions
- Expertise in phased upgrade strategies, including in-place and parallel approaches
- Knowledge of cutover planning, runbooks, rollback strategies, and post-upgrade stabilization
- Management of end-of-life and end-of-support version remediation and risk mitigation
- Deep understanding of technical project management (not solely business-focused)
- Ability to translate technical architecture, integration, and infrastructure challenges into executable plans
- Hands-on collaboration with application development, infrastructure, QA, security, and operations teams
- Experience with defect triage, environment readiness planning, and release coordination
- Proven track record of managing multiple external vendors simultaneously
- Oversight of statements of work (SOWs), service level agreements (SLAs), deliverables, and dependencies
- Ability to escalate issues and communicate effectively with executives
- Coordination among software publishers, system integrators, and internal teams
- Experience operating in regulated environments with a robust risk and issue management discipline
- Familiarity with formal change control processes (e.g., Cabinet Advisory Board)
- Alignment with security, audit, and compliance mandates for Tier 1 systems
- Proficient in building and maintaining comprehensive project schedules
- Experience managing dependencies and forecasting milestones
- Ability to deliver clear and concise executive-level status reports with actionable risk narratives
- Experience with ECM or similar content management workflow platforms is a plus
- Background in financial services or credit unions is advantageous
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, Agile (SAFe/CSM), or ITIL are desirable
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive upgrade of a Tier 1 Application Extender/content management workflow system
- Develop and sustain a detailed project plan that includes milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies through November 2026
- Manage the phases of upgrades, regression testing cycles, cutover planning, and post-deployment stabilization efforts
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security protocols, and change management processes
- Collaborate closely with application development, infrastructure, security, QA, and operations teams
- Translate technical initiatives into clear and actionable plans for business stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate risks related to legacy systems, version discrepancies, integrations, and vendor dependencies
- Ensure completion of necessary documentation, testing artifacts, and validation deliverables
- Serve as the principal contact for multiple external vendors
- Lead vendor planning meetings and monitor deliverables and SLAs
- Report project statuses, risks, and decisions to executive sponsors and technology leadership
- Facilitate governance meetings, steering committees, and cross-functional working sessions
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and vendor invoices
- Manage project scope, change requests, and prioritization to ensure adherence to deadlines and compliance standards
