Requirements
Must:
- Over 5 years of experience in designing, supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administering hardware and software in a virtual setting
- Proficient in VMware technologies such as VMware High-Availability, vMotion, DRS, vCenter, and vSphere Lifecycle Manager
- Skilled in installing, configuring, upgrading, and supporting VMware ESXi and vCenter
- Capable of installing, configuring, upgrading, and supporting Microsoft Windows systems and software
- Experienced in virtual infrastructure lifecycle management, including VM guest deployments and PowerCLI automation
- Knowledgeable in VMware integrated networking, firewalls, ports, services, and related security tools
- Ability to set up virtual and physical networking for a virtual environment
- Familiar with deploying systems within segmented networks (preferred)
- Competent in administering both Windows and Linux systems
- Detail-oriented with the ability to operate in regulatory control environments, ensuring compliance standards are met
- Strong organizational skills with an aptitude to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly for managing regulatory environments and documenting compliance issues
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated capacity for independent learning
Responsibilities
- Engineer, install, and maintain VMware hardware, hypervisors, and system software, adhering to compliance and security standards while meeting project timelines and customer requirements
- Oversee engineering, installation, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Servers and system software in clustered/high availability setups, ensuring compliance and security
- Navigate within a hands-off datacenter, diagnosing issues remotely and guiding others through physical system configurations and repairs as necessary
- Manage the complete life cycle of server and system software, including host and cluster deployments, workload migrations, and disaster recovery scenarios
- Provide second-line technical support to team members, customers, and various IT areas
- Conduct performance tuning for VMware ESXi and Microsoft Windows server deployments
- Implement security patches, functional updates, and version upgrades
- Understand security policies and the influence of cybersecurity on technology environments
- Grasp the regulations governing technology use and management, including Sarbanes-Oxley and internal policies
- Regularly communicate progress, challenges, and best practices to management and team members
