Requirements
Must:
- Familiarity with cabling installation techniques and standards (Cat5e/Cat6)
- Experience with RJ45 connector and patch panel terminations under supervision
- Ability to assist in labeling and identifying cables
- Basic knowledge of telecom blocks and punch-down techniques
- Some experience with cable testing tools (Fluke, EXFO)
- Exposure to fiber cable handling and dressing
- Adherence to safety protocols and maintaining an orderly work area
- Willingness to take instructions from more experienced technicians
- Must have completed OSHA 10 training before starting
Responsibilities
- Execute fiber splicing tasks in support of telecommunications
- Pull, dress, and label cabling in line with TIA/EIA standards
- Begin RJ45 connector and patch panel termination processes with oversight
- Assist in labeling and identifying various cables and installations
- Learn and apply basic punch-down techniques for telecom blocks
- Utilize cable testing equipment under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace that adheres to safety procedures
- Follow directions provided by senior technicians and supervisors
