Requirements
Must:
- Previous experience in a data center or mission-critical environment
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and fiber optic systems
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Knowledge of data center environmental systems including HVAC, backup power, and fire suppression
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Capacity to work independently and adhere to change management protocols
- Experience in data center operations
- Proficient in rack and stack tasks
- Knowledge of fiber optic and Cat6 structured cabling
- Skills in hardware troubleshooting
- Support experience for infrastructure
- Basic understanding of Linux
- Low Voltage Apprentice license or ability to obtain
- LV-G or LV-C certification (as applicable)
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical infrastructure in both ISP and OSP environments
- Set up, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including racks, servers, network devices, and power distribution units (PDUs)
- Execute rack-and-stack operations and structured cabling to industry standards
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues to reduce service outages
- Collaborate with network and systems teams on hardware deployment and integration
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and environments, focusing on cooling and power systems
- Aid in the installation and maintenance of conduits, pathways, and external cabling infrastructure
- Route, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling connecting buildings and network demarcation points
- Inspect and sustain outside plant infrastructure for long-term reliability
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors during installation or repair processes
- Keep precise records of cable pathways, terminations, and updates to infrastructure
