Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in Cat5/Cat6 installation and crimping
- Basic troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in live data center environments
- Understanding of quality assurance best practices
- Ability to work in high-temperature and high-traffic settings
- Comfortable using ladders and lifts
- Must possess standard hand tools
- Capable of lifting over 50 lbs
Responsibilities
- Execute fiber and copper installations within a large data center environment
- Pull significant quantities of fiber in data halls and risers
- Conduct fiber and copper terminations, including Cat5/Cat6 and LC/SC types
- Perform fiber splicing for both ribbonized and standard types
- Organize and manage cable pathways with neat and consistent workmanship
- Utilize Fluke Versiv testers for both fiber and copper
- Ensure accurate labeling and patch panel setup
- Troubleshoot any open circuits, shorts, miswires, or link failures
- Conduct continuity tests and tone/trace functions
- Install J-hooks, ladder racks, cable trays, fiber runners, and supporting structures
- Build out IDF/MDF rooms from scratch, including racks and patch panels
- Ground and bond equipment as required
- Assist with the installation of racks and equipment mounting
- Collaborate with team members and communicate with supervisors effectively
- Maintain compliance with project timelines while ensuring safe work practices
- Foster a positive team atmosphere in a challenging, high-volume data center setting
Description
We are currently seeking experienced Cable Technicians to join our team at a new hyperscale data center in Aiken, SC. This role offers a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week, with optional overtime as needed. Our work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, combining indoor and outdoor tasks in a new construction setting that involves significant physical activity, including lifting and working at heights. We provide a competitive pay range of $23.00 - $24.00/hr, alongside various benefits, ensuring that your wellbeing is prioritized as you contribute to the success of our operations and the timely launch of the data center.
