Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related area (or equivalent practical experience).
- 1-5 years of experience in administering Linux systems (Rocky/RHEL/Ubuntu) in a production environment.
- Certifications (preferable): Red Hat RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, LPIC-1.
- Strong grasp of Linux operating system principles.
- Proficiency with systemd, networking, storage, and file systems.
- Skills in package management and log analysis (journalctl, syslog).
- Knowledge of storage management and backup basics.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
- Basic understanding of virtualization (VMware/KVM/Nutanix) and/or containers (Docker).
- Basic scripting skills (Bash) and knowledge of version control (Git).
- Insight into security practices, including SSH keys and audit procedures.
- Ability to adhere to protocols and work under supervision.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and uphold Linux servers (RHEL/Ubuntu/Rocky/CentOS), both on-premises and virtual.
- Oversee essential services: SSH, DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP/SSSD, Postfix, NFS/SMB, systemd, and cron tasks.
- Implement patches and kernel updates; manage package repositories (yum/dnf/apt).
- Continuously monitor system performance and health (using tools like top, iostat, sar, vmstat, netstat; or via Prometheus/Zabbix).
- Establish and verify backup/restore protocols (e.g., Veeam/Bacula/NetBackup); conduct recovery tests.
- Manage storage (LVM, mdadm RAID, multipath, iSCSI/FC) and file systems (ext4/xfs/btrfs).
- Strengthen host security following established standards (CIS/STIG), firewall configurations (iptables/nftables/firewalld), SELinux/AppArmor.
- Develop basic automation scripts (Bash; Python optional) for recurring tasks.
- Address incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and create documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Assist users and development teams with environment setups, permissions, and troubleshooting.
