Requirements
Must:
- 5–8+ years of experience in technical support or network engineering, preferably in telecommunications or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Strong foundation in Ethernet switching, TDM/SONET/SDH, serial data communications, and legacy-to-IP migration.
- Proficient in Layer 2/3 networking technologies (VLANs, MPLS, QoS, routing protocols).
- Direct experience with serial interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, T1/E1).
- Knowledge of SCADA communications and utility/transportation network protocols is highly preferred.
- Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Preferred qualifications include 3 years of telecom experience and 3 years of network support experience.
- CCNA certification is desirable.
- Must be able to commute to Irvine, CA 92614, and must relocate before starting work.
Responsibilities
- I will act as a Tier-2/Tier-3 escalation point for customer concerns associated with JumboSwitch hardware and software.
- I will diagnose, replicate, and resolve complex system issues in switching, multiplexing, and networking settings.
- I will provide thorough root cause analyses and recommend preventive measures.
- I will develop and maintain comprehensive technical knowledge of JumboSwitch architecture, modules, protocols, and configurations.
- I will keep abreast of new releases, patches, and hardware enhancements.
- I will deliver technical training to junior engineers and customers.
- I will serve as a trusted advisor for enterprise, utility, transportation, and government clients.
- I will communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- I will document solutions in knowledge base articles and customer reports.
- I will work closely with engineering, QA, and product management teams to escalate product defects and suggest improvements.
- I will support customer acceptance testing, field trials, and deployments.
