Requirements

Must:
We seek candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. You should have between 5 to 8 years of experience in full-stack software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role focused on development. A strong background of 8 years in Java development is essential, specifically in building high-volume backend applications within logistics or field service industries. Expertise in Java and the Spring Framework (particularly Spring Boot) is required, along with knowledge of microservices architecture and database design (both SQL and NoSQL). Experience with RESTful API design and development, asynchronous messaging systems (like Kafka), and cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure) is necessary. Familiarity with event-driven architecture and proficiency in Agile methodologies and CI/CD best practices is also expected. Additionally, experience in full-stack development, including with front-end frameworks like React, is desirable. Experience in managing distributed teams and coordinating cross-time-zone efforts is a plus.

Responsibilities

In this role, I will drive technical priorities and maintain end-to-end delivery and support for Java-based backend solutions that are integral to our core business operations. I lead agile development tasks for Java platforms, focusing on designing and implementing top-tier architectures, patterns, and security practices. I will provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding backend development to ensure scalable data processing, high availability, and API performance. I hold accountability for overseeing project timelines, resource allocation, and team performance to guarantee successful project delivery. Mentorship is a vital part of my role; I will technically guide engineers across geographically distributed teams while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. I also coordinate cross-team dependencies and collaborate with Product, UX, QA, and Backend teams to achieve scalable and reliable outcomes. Furthermore, I will engage with enterprise architecture, DevOps, and operational teams to ensure smooth integration and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for backend services using tools such as Git and Jenkins. My duties include facilitating work item estimation, ensuring alignment with business goals, and considering diverse perspectives in our planning and delivery efforts. I will also be responsible for maintaining production readiness through automated testing, monitoring, and support strategies.

Description

I am looking for a candidate who demonstrates the ability to gather domain knowledge in logistics operations and adeptly apply it to Java backend solution design. You will create and manage delivery timelines, effectively scope environments and teams, and support high-stakes production deployments. Remaining calm and analytical during technical escalations is crucial, as is leading crisis resolution when necessary. The successful candidate will use data and metrics to guide business planning, staffing, and risk mitigation decisions. A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and keeping up with Java and backend technology trends is vital. Experience with Python would be a bonus, and a polyglot mindset is highly valued. Additionally, a genuine interest in and understanding of emerging technologies, such as Generative AI, will set you apart as an ideal candidate.
