Requirements
Must:
- Over 7 years of experience in security engineering with an emphasis on Perimeter Defense
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Cloud technologies, particularly AWS and moderately with Azure
- Demonstrated automation expertise using tools like Terraform, Python, and API calls, streamlining manual tasks for security deployments during Cloud migration
- Hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks like Terraform and CloudFormation
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, CloudBees, GitLab) to enhance automation and orchestration of security configurations
- Comprehensive understanding of code repositories such as Bitbucket and Git, with experience in version control and collaborative code reviews
- Working knowledge of Perimeter Defense solutions, including Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler proxy, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation
- Relevant industry certifications like CISSP, CISM, and CCNP are highly favorable
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for business when necessary
Responsibilities
- Spearhead network security initiatives focusing on migration to AWS and Azure Public Cloud
- Automate security features to facilitate Public Cloud migration
- Design, execute, and preserve Perimeter Defense solutions within a large enterprise setting
- Collaborate with Cyber Security, Network Engineering, and Security Architecture teams to determine optimal security strategies
- Create and sustain technical documentation for Perimeter Defense systems
- Analyze and rectify complex security challenges related to Perimeter Defense technologies
- Formulate, implement, and assess strategies for the identification and prevention of security threats
- Establish and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures
- Engage with cross-functional teams to recognize, prioritize, and execute security enhancements
- Stay informed about new trends in Perimeter Defense technology and assess new tools for organizational use
- Mentor and provide training to security team members on Perimeter Defense technologies and best practices
- Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as delegated

We are Synchrony, and were on the lookout for a Technical Staff Security Engineer to guide the design and implementation of advanced Perimeter Defense capabilities within our extensive enterprise environment, supporting a significant migration to AWS and Azure. The role comes with a salary range of $135,000 annually, plus eligibility for annual bonuses based on individual and company performance.
