- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or demonstrate why your experience holds more weight than a degree.
- A consistent and reliable work history, ideally showcasing 3-5 years of service with each prior employer.
- Extensive experience with Linux, with a minimum of 5 years focused on constructing and managing Linux distributions.
- Proficiency in Python and POSIX shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Git and contemporary source control methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to produce clear and effective documentation, ranging from design specifications to code annotations.
- A genuine enthusiasm for technology, paired with a collaborative and self-motivated disposition.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain customized Embedded Linux distributions for our fuel management systems utilizing Yocto Project tools.
- Define and implement robust strategies for system deployment and software updates.
- Develop methods to meet security and compliance requirements throughout our systems.
- Contribute to the enhancement of Linux integration across a broader range of devices and product lines.
- Author embedded software in shell script, Python, and C.
- Provide support for software operating on hardware that interacts with users and various connected devices.
- Innovate and resolve issues to create effective technical solutions to intricate challenges.

Description
As a Senior Embedded Engineer at Syntech, you will be instrumental in advancing our industry-leading fuel control and accounting systems. Our embedded platforms are designed around Linux, and we utilize the Yocto Project to build custom Linux distributions to support our Java/OSGi applications and edge devices. At Syntech, we are committed to the Internet of Things (IoT) and seek someone who shares this enthusiasm, particularly in regard to Linuxs significance in this domain. ### Preferred Experience (a bonus, but not necessary): - Experience in building custom Linux distributions using Yocto. - Skills in modifying and configuring U-Boot bootloaders. - Experience with writing, debugging, or customizing Linux device drivers. - Ability to integrate and adapt open-source software for embedded systems. - Familiarity with IoT security principles and best practices. - Knowledge in firmware development for microcontrollers. - Exposure to RTOS environments (like FreeRTOS or Zephyr). - Experience working within Agile/SCRUM teams. - Familiarity with lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
