Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree
- 1-2 years experience in a client-facing role
- Prior experience in a library setting
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proficient in Macintosh and/or Windows environments, including word processing, email, and web browsers
- Familiarity with Alma integrated library systems or other database management systems is preferred
- Experience working in an academic environment is desirable
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Ability to handle physical demands, including pushing/pulling loaded book carts and reaching for materials at various heights
- Capability to maintain a stationary position for extended periods while performing job duties
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assign tasks to student workers, providing training on library systems and general operations
- Offer consistent feedback on student performance and report significant issues to the department Head
- Provide services to support library patrons, facilitating access to collections while adhering to policies
- Open and/or close the library with student worker assistance
- Assist patrons with technology use, troubleshooting initial requests when necessary
- Deliver exceptional customer service, balancing patron needs with library priorities
- Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act for library services and support
- Maintain up-to-date patron records in the librarys integrated system
- Collaborate with senior staff on stacks maintenance to ensure proper shelving
- Identify materials needing repair or replacement and track library requests
- Support the upkeep of library facilities and equipment, reporting issues as they arise
- Ensure a safe library environment and address security concerns promptly
- Co-supervise a team of over 40 student employees
