Requirements

Must:
- U.S. work authorization is mandatory - Must be able to work onsite in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and support Library facilities as designated - Over 10 years of network engineering and/or network administration experience - Proven ability in the installation, configuration, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network equipment - Capability to ensure that router, switch, wireless, and related network tasks are executed following manufacturer guidelines and standards - Experience in enterprise networking environments, including incident response, operational monitoring, and infrastructure troubleshooting - Proficient in switch port configuration, VLAN management, access device upkeep, and troubleshooting end-user connectivity issues - Familiarity with ticketing/work management systems for documentation, tracking, and closure of technical tasks - Competence in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Visio - Strong written and verbal communication abilities, particularly in coordinating with technical teams, service desks, and management - Ability to maintain thorough and accurate technical documentation, reports, network records, and configuration updates - Understanding building infrastructure concepts pertinent to network/cabling operations, including wiring pathways, conduits, and general facility coordination

Responsibilities

- Provide direct support for IP data network installation, configuration, maintenance, and management across Library locations - Install, configure, update, test, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, switches, wireless controllers, and associated network hardware using appropriate manufacturer protocols - Address end-user networking requirements by enabling/disabling data monuments, configuring switch ports and VLANs, and affixing OSI Layer 1–3 connectivity challenges - Facilitate network and cabling support for office relocations, new office installations, and other infrastructural modifications - Monitor the condition, availability, and operational integrity of both end-user and telecommunication network infrastructure - Supervise environmental factors in data centers and network closets to ensure stable performance - Utilize Cisco Prime and/or DNA Center to analyze alerts, observe network status, and react to outages, link complications, and critical connectivity issues - Engage with ServiceNow daily for queue monitoring, management of assignments, documentation changes, and tracking completion of tasks - Assist in the installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance of wired and wireless access devices, encompassing port use, assignment, and supporting documentation - Oversee monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunication circuits, including DWDM optical and WAN-related circuits - Configure remote management access and maintain records for network devices, network maps, and configuration management documentation - Generate reports and ensure comprehensive, accurate, and high-quality technical documentation remains updated - Collaborate directly with Service Desk, technical staff, and management on status, escalations, outages, and service restoration - Execute OCIO notification and escalation protocols and act as a telecommunications representative/SME for OCIO when requested - Provide occasional after-hours support for outages or urgent needs when necessary to restore services or satisfy high-priority requests
