- Create and uphold a multi-year IT and AI strategy and roadmap that aligns closely with the Institutes scientific objectives and enterprise requirements. - Proactively inform senior leadership about emerging technologies, data and AI trends, and digital capabilities relevant to biomedical research. - Assess, prioritize, and balance capital investments and risks related to enterprise-wide technology and AI projects to ensure sustainability and scalability. - Establish governance frameworks for responsible AI and data usage, focusing on model lifecycle oversight, transparency, and adherence to policies and regulations. - Collaborate with scientific leadership to design and operate premier advanced computing services, including high-performance computing, large-scale storage, and scientific SaaS platforms. - Ensure secure collection, management, analysis, and sharing of complex datasets within research labs using modern pipelines and AI tools. - Work with data science, core facilities, and faculty to support impactful use cases for AI and advanced analytics. - Promote interoperability and FAIR data practices to enhance scientific insights and reuse. - Direct the planning, delivery, and continuous enhancement of enterprise applications and services to optimize operational efficiency. - Spearhead digital transformation initiatives to fundamentally improve service provision and consumption, focusing on user experience. - Develop and implement an organization-wide analytics program providing timely and reliable data for decision-making. - Create an IT governance framework that aligns priorities and resources with institutional goals. - Advance a comprehensive information security and privacy program to safeguard institutional data and systems. - Integrate security and risk management into technology procurement, contracts, and research with the cooperation of leadership. - Lead the design, execution, and regular testing of enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans. - Manage technology-related audits and remediation efforts to ensure robust controls. - Build and nurture a high-performing IT organization across various functions like infrastructure, research computing, and cybersecurity. - Cultivate a culture of innovation, service, and accountability, fostering strong partnerships across administrative and scientific teams. - Develop organizational structures and succession plans to meet current and future needs. - Plan and implement a clear IT strategy while communicating progress to stakeholders and translating complex concepts into understandable terms. - Manage and optimize the IT budget, balancing internal capabilities with external partnerships and cloud services. - Oversee vendor and managed services strategy, including negotiations and performance management for various IT services. - Define and monitor key performance indicators and service levels for IT to drive continuous improvements.
