Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in executing assigned programs.
- Foster the development of a comprehensive Applications Matrix, collaborating with Design System Engineers to detail all interface requirements across various vehicle platforms.
- Ensure all applications are consistent with the design envelopes of transmission and driveline products.
- Oversee packaging studies for each vehicle application to fulfill clearance requirements, leading advanced vehicle adaptation design studies.
- Negotiate platform requirements based on product limitations and capacities.
- Own and communicate Driveline Technical Specifications (DLTS) to the team, detailing application-specific needs such as maximum torque and NVH.
- Define and track adherence to robust vehicle and system level functional objectives.
- Lead the Virtual Duty Cycle analysis in coordination with the Propulsion Systems and Vehicle Loads/Durability teams.
- Manage design changes requiring platform approval and conduct necessary trade-off studies.
- Develop, manage, and communicate external design or assembly issues and change management processes.
- Review and approve Application Checklists for each Change Notice (CN).
- Oversee application-specific design variations, including controls and calibration strategies.
- Represent the chief organization in vehicle assembly plant requirements and activities.
- Drive the Layered Audits process to ensure the robustness of manufacturing, heat-treatment, and assembly operations.
- Lead Build Readiness tasks, including instrumentation planning and dyno support.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer on developing a benchmarking plan focusing on competitive products.
- Coordinate assessments of bulletins with the Center of Excellence and provide engineering responses.
- Ensure regulatory document generation and approval processes for AES/BES.
- Update and coordinate approvals for owners manuals and compliance report standards.
