Must:
We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Turbocharger and Supercharger Systems. In this role, I will be responsible for the design, development, and technical leadership in the creation, validation, and release of these systems, alongside essential components like coolant and oil feed lines, and heat shields. This position encompasses all aspects of moving air into and out of the boosting hardware, including cooling, lubrication, sealing, and structural support for the turbocharger system. I will drive the design through all stages of the product lifecycle, which includes the design concept, engineering validation, and production release through the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Responsibilities
- Design & Development:
- I will lead the design of Turbocharger and Supercharger System hardware, ducting, and engine interfaces.
- I will develop and enhance the Turbocharger System, focusing on functionality, cost-effectiveness, quality, durability, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness).
- I will support CAD modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other validation techniques to ensure structural integrity and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborating with other engineering teams, such as airflow, thermal, and packaging, will be key to integrating the turbocharger system.
- Release & Program Management:
- I will manage design release activities from the initial concept through to production, ensuring timely completion of critical project milestones.
- Taking ownership of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for turbocharger components will be part of my duties.
- I will ensure all parts fulfill quality, cost, and timing requirements.
- Driving the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for turbocharger components, I will guarantee compliance with regulatory and customer specifications.
- I will coordinate with cross-functional teams, which include manufacturing, suppliers, and quality assurance, to guarantee successful release and implementation of designs.
- Technical Guidance & Problem Solving:
- I will provide technical leadership and support during the development and production phases, resolving design issues, material selection challenges, and process-related problems.
- Leading Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and other risk assessment activities will be part of my role to ensure design robustness and mitigate potential issues.
- I will partake in the formulation of testing strategies for turbocharger components, covering vibration, crash, and thermal testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- I will work closely with suppliers to ensure the design is feasible, cost-competitive, and manufacturable.
- Collaborating with validation teams will involve defining and implementing validation testing to ensure turbocharger components meet functional and performance standards.
- Partnering with vehicle integration teams will be crucial to ensure compatibility, safety, and integration of turbocharger components into the overall vehicle platform.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- I will develop and maintain engineering documentation including design specifications, drawings, test plans, and validation reports.
- Ensuring that all technical documentation is current and aligns with program timelines and PPAP requirements will be my responsibility.
- I will report on project status, timelines, and risk assessments to senior management and stakeholders.
