Requirements
Must:
- Hands-on experience managing Apache Kafka or the Confluent Platform, including cluster management, security measures, topic administration, and performance optimization.
- Background in operating Apache Flink or comparable streaming frameworks, focusing on infrastructure aspects like checkpointing and state management.
- Strong familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and AWS services, such as MSK, EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and S3.
- Proven skills in high availability, disaster recovery, and reliability practices, including ownership of SLA/SLO, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Understanding of security and networking best practices for distributed systems.
- Experience implementing infrastructure changes in CI/CD environments with careful deployment and rollback strategies.
- Nice to Have: Familiarity with Confluent Cloud, container orchestration technologies (e.g., EKS/ROSA), OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, or GitOps methodologies.
- Exposure to infrastructure requirements for agentic or AI-driven workloads.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the Event Hub platform that supports event-driven functionalities throughout the organization.
- Take ownership of the Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink infrastructure, ensuring it is production-ready, highly available, scalable, and resilient, with effective disaster recovery protocols.
- Provision and manage Confluent Kafka components, including brokers, topics/partitions, ACLs, and schema registry, while enforcing platform governance standards regarding retention, quotas, and security.
- Operate the Apache Flink infrastructure, focusing on job/task management, checkpointing, and state backend, while ensuring optimal runtime availability and performance.
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies, conducting failover testing and creating comprehensive runbooks.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation techniques to deliver reproducible and auditable infrastructure, supporting CI/CD processes.
- Oversee the observability and security for Kafka/Flink systems, encompassing monitoring, alerting, encryption, IAM/VPC/network isolation, and access management protocols.
- Collaborate with software teams to establish standards, assist with onboarding, and document architecture and operational procedures.
