Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM field with 1+ years of engineering experience (internship/project experience accepted); OR at least 5+ years of professional engineering experience without a degree.
- Proficiency with MAC and PHY layer protocols and algorithms utilized in cellular base stations.
- Familiarity with 3GPP protocols.
- Masters degree or PhD in wireless communication systems is preferred.
- Experience in system design or implementation of MAC and PHY algorithms for cellular networks is advantageous.
- Previous troubleshooting experience in a large-scale production wireless network is beneficial.
- Experience conducting link level simulations to evaluate physical layer decoding performance under various channel models is a plus.
- Prior experience with system level simulation for communication networks modeling inter-cell and inter-user interference is desirable.
- Proficient in MATLAB, with working knowledge of Python and/or C/C++.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and data analysis skills are essential; exceptional analytical capabilities and engineering fundamentals are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to operate effectively in a dynamic setting with evolving needs and requirements.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Design and refine wireless systems algorithms at the MAC and PHY layers for link adaptation, power management, timing adjustments, and Doppler tracking.
- Create and simulate intricate MAC layer scheduling algorithms that enable joint scheduling of users across multiple beams while adhering to Quality of Service (QoS) and latency requirements.
- Examine inter-cell and inter-beam interference on both uplink and downlink, identify orbit-related issues, and suggest solutions through beam planning enhancements, MAC layer scheduling improvements, or advanced signal processing techniques.
- Conduct both link-level and system-level simulations to assess the performance of various algorithms across all protocol stack layers.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to implement and deploy algorithms into orbit.
- Validate algorithm performance in production through comprehensive KPI analysis, high-rate per TTI telemetry, and UE log examination.
- Develop precise models for wireless systems in non-terrestrial applications that make use of 3GPP-defined protocols (4G/5G/6G).
