Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM field; OR 2+ years of professional experience in software development as a substitute for a degree (internship experience included).
- Proficiency in networking protocols (UDP, TCP/IP, etc.) and distributed systems.
- Extensive experience writing C or C++ in a production setting.
- Background in software development, testing, and deployment for real-world applications.
- Experience in software designed for network optimization, traffic shaping, or bandwidth management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and perform effectively in a dynamic environment with fluctuating needs.
- Knowledge of security considerations related to distributed systems and internet services.
- Comprehensive understanding of service provider networks, including:
- Connectivity (Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS).
- Routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS).
- Internet services (subscriber provisioning, BRAS, DNS, DHCP, NTP).
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement highly dependable real-time software that operates on network switches, servers, ground antennas, and satellites to enhance network performance for demanding high-throughput applications.
- Take ownership of the softwares impact throughout its entire lifecycle, including architecture design, implementation, testing, and support, while utilizing insights from real-world deployments for continuous improvement.
- Create necessary tools for testing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of systems reliant on your software.
- Build prototypes and conduct experiments to validate crucial design concepts.
- Innovate advanced networking technologies to route data through a changing network of satellites, ground stations, and users.
