Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field; or 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
- Proficiency in C++, Rust, or other system programming languages
- Experience with real-time embedded systems or distributed computing systems
- Strong interest in designing, architecting, and producing high-quality, bug-free software
- Basic understanding of electronics, controls, fluid systems, motor design, or physical mechanics
- Excellent critical thinking and first-principles problem-solving abilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with a high degree of responsibility and accountability for software outcomes
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test highly reliable autonomous software systems and the simulations to validate them
- Oversee all phases of software development, including design, testing, and integration aligned with mission goals
- Collaborate with engineering counterparts to create and maintain launch and vehicle software across all necessary domains to ensure proper control of the pad, spacecraft, and booster
- Adhere to and uphold high software standards and best practices within the Starship Software team
