Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a related field with 4+ years of software development experience, or 6+ years of professional experience without a degree
- 4+ years of experience with C++, Python, or Rust
- Proven proficiency in C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages
- Experience in building or engaging with real-time embedded systems or distributed computing systems
- Background in designing fault-tolerant software
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills
- In-depth understanding of computer architecture and networking
- Basic knowledge of electronics, controls, fluid systems, motor design, or physical mechanics
- Creative problem-solving approach based on first principles
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, take initiative, and communicate effectively
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Responsibilities
- Develop highly dependable autonomous software systems and the simulations required for validation
- Manage all stages of software development, from design through testing and integration to ensure mission success
- Collaborate with engineering teams to create and maintain launch and vehicle software, ensuring all necessary software domains are addressed for effective control of the pad, ship, and booster
- Define and direct key projects that support the Starship mission
- Continuously enhance software standards and engineering best practices within the Starship Software team
