Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field - Over 8 years of experience in cellular RAN design and/or system architecture - More than 5 years of involvement in 3GPP standardization - Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline (preferred) - In-depth knowledge of 5G NR and LTE PHY/MAC/RRC layers - Understanding of the latest 6G advancements, studies, and feature development - Familiarity with NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) and satellite integration into 3GPP frameworks - Awareness of spectrum coexistence, PFD limits, RF propagation, and link budgets - Demonstrated experience in contributing to and/or leading submissions within 3GPP RAN working groups - Previous leadership experience in a 3GPP or similar standards body (e.g., rapporteur, ad hoc chair, or company lead delegate) - Knowledge of ITU-R, ETSI, GSMA, or regional regulatory processes - Background in satellite communications, NTN, or RF systems integration - Capability to manage multiple contributions across various RAN working groups and releases - Willingness to work extended hours as necessary - Ability and readiness to travel as required (up to 25%)

Responsibilities

- Serve as our primary representative in relevant 3GPP RAN Working Groups (RAN1, RAN2, RAN3, RAN4, RAN5 as necessary) - Present, negotiate, and protect our contributions and proposals to align emerging standards with product and regulatory objectives - Cultivate and sustain relationships with other 3GPP members, operators, chipset manufacturers, and regulatory agencies - Compose, review, and submit technical contributions on matters pertaining to 5G/6G NR, 5G/6G NTN, RAN architecture, spectrum bands, and performance evaluation - Provide comprehensive technical analysis on topics relevant to Working Group discussions, such as: - RAN1: development of SLS/LLS simulation tools; analyze PHY design options for study/work item evaluations - RAN2: conduct signaling and protocol analysis of control plane and user plane features; maintain ASN.1 for internal requirement utilization - RAN3: establish architecture and interconnect features - RAN4 RF/OTA: integrate RF, OTA, and spectrum requirements into standards; develop coexistence simulations - RAN4 RRM/demodulation: create LLS simulation tools; establish RRM requirements and testing cases - RAN5: synchronize RAN5 test cases with the Starlink feature roadmap; perform MU/TT analysis and guide test equipment vendors towards feature implementation - Engage in internal design evaluations to transform 3GPP results into actionable engineering specifications. - Monitor standardization timelines, Study Item/Work Item progress, and Release planning (e.g., Release 20, 21, and beyond). - Summarize and relay 3GPP meeting results to internal stakeholders via concise reports and recommendations. - Identify new standardization opportunities, challenges, and competitive movements - Collaborate with system engineering, RF design, regulatory, and product teams to synchronize our technical roadmaps with 3GPP developments - Provide technical insights to support business and partnership discussions based on standards.
