Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or a related engineering field
- Over 5 years of experience in designing optical experiments and creating test automation, including professional, internship, or project experience
- Proven ability to take initiative, working independently and collaboratively to produce high-quality outcomes
- Strong understanding of DWDM transmission systems, communications theory, and/or optical subsystems
- Experience in optical network design, planning, and performance analysis of DWDM systems
- Practical experience with optical device or system-level testing and characterization
- Proficiency in developing test software infrastructure
- Familiarity with any programming or scripting language (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Experience in data extraction, visualization, and analysis using programming languages (e.g., Python) or SQL
- Knowledge of IP networking and fundamental traffic flow concepts
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as required for critical project deadlines
Responsibilities
- Design and develop optical connectivity solutions for the ground network infrastructure of Starlink
- Create and manage lab and production testing stations for new product qualification and troubleshooting of operational fleet hardware
- Develop modular, reusable test and automation software in Python for verification of engineering designs
- Collaborate with ground networking and space network teams to enhance the physical layer of the Starlink network and optimize data traffic flow
- Create tools and solutions to monitor the health and availability of the optical infrastructure proactively and lead initiatives for continuous reliability improvement
