Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
- At least 1 year of experience in power converter development
- Masters degree in electrical engineering or a related field (preferred)
- Previous experience with DC-DC power converter development (preferred)
- Familiarity with magnetics and custom transformer and inductor design, including planar magnetics (preferred)
- Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of power electronics
- Strong understanding of analog control and discrete logic design
- Knowledge of voltage and current mode control and compensation design
- Experience with AC-DC converters and power factor correction
- Deep understanding of DC-DC topologies and ability to select suitable architectures and components
- Insight into design for fault tolerance and reliability
- Familiarity with failure mode effects and criticality analysis
- Knowledge of wire wound and planar inductors and transformers design
- Familiarity with power supply testing and packaging for tough environments
- Hands-on experience with in-lab impedance measurement and loop-gain measurement
- Awareness of spacecraft electrical power systems and knowledge of radiation effects
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed for critical deadlines
Responsibilities
- Offer engineering expertise in the design, analysis, and testing of DC-DC power converters for demanding environments
- Engage in electrical power system and sub-system level design discussions and establish requirements
- Define and execute electrical power system verification testing and analysis
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of design, test, and production engineers to develop new power electronics hardware
