Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of experience in IT operations/DevOps engineering, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 4 years in IT management roles.
- Professional familiarity with configuration management tools and principles.
- Proven experience in organizing and directing IT engineering teams of various sizes towards unified objectives.
- Expertise in developing dependable, scalable systems architectures with high availability and fault tolerance.
- Practical knowledge of configuration management, provisioning, infrastructure as code, and DevOps tools and concepts.
- Strong operational focus with a commitment to maximizing system uptime.
- Experience leading all aspects of corporate IT operations in a distributed setting.
- Networking skills encompassing IPv4, switching, routing, firewalls, and high availability setups.
- Comfort working with mission-critical systems and a sense of urgency regarding responsibilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Background managing NOC/SOC functions, enterprise application support (e.g., ERP, CRM, ServiceNow), threat detection, incident response, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tools (Splunk/ELK, Prometheus/Grafana).
Responsibilities
- Define requirements, conduct research, evaluate vendors and solutions, design and implement systems, and provide ongoing support for all relevant technologies, ensuring straightforward but effective scalability and reliability.
- Promote consistent standardized solutions across SpaceX for all software, configurations, and processes.
- Establish tools and protocols to manage the operational environment effectively, including change management, monitoring, incident response, and customer service handling.
- Employ security-focused decision-making processes while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Create, manage, and execute a roadmap of projects that elevate our operations through innovative technologies, tools, automation, and processes with a team of engineers and administrators.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to offer solutions and swiftly resolve issues, serving as the primary point of contact between IT and customers.
- Participate, advise, and contribute to technical decisions impacting the teams under your leadership.
- Engage actively during crises, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and ensuring clear communication with all relevant parties.
