Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field or 6+ years of relevant professional experience in IT administration or engineering in lieu of a degree.
- At least 1 year of leadership experience in technical teams or projects.
- Proficient in managing server solutions (hardware and software) in Linux or Windows settings, as well as enterprise network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Experience in creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Familiarity with mission-critical environments, preferably within aerospace or defense sectors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate a diverse IT team.
- Proven capability to manage projects effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges.
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as necessary.
- Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support during emergencies.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to lift 25lbs unassisted.
- Comfortable working at heights up to 110 meters with appropriate safety equipment.
- Willing to travel up to 20%, including air travel and occasional extended time at sea for operational and training purposes.
- Capacity to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of skilled IT professionals to implement and maintain IT infrastructure that supports our launch operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop effective IT solutions throughout the launch lifecycle, from pre-flight preparations to post-launch analysis and recovery.
- Act as a liaison between SpaceX, the United States Space Force, and NASA, participating in technical briefings and assessing requirements to connect resources for solving challenges.
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement aimed at enhancing IT system reliability and team efficiency, including change management, performance metrics, monitoring, preventative maintenance, incident handling, and customer request management.
- Oversee daily operations of IT systems to ensure they function seamlessly and reliably during critical launch periods.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, promoting cohesion, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
