Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical, chemical, aerospace engineering, or related field - Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in building or designing (including internships, clubs, and competitions) - Advanced degree in engineering or related field (preferred) - At least 2 years of experience in designing fluid systems, especially with gases or hazardous chemicals in manufacturing or semiconductor settings (preferred) - 2+ years of experience in photovoltaic, semiconductor, or thin-film deposition manufacturing (preferred) - Familiarity with safety protocols for handling pyrophoric and toxic materials (e.g., silane, phosphine) - Knowledge of ASME B31.3, SEMI S2/S8 standards and cleanroom HVAC integration for fluid systems (preferred) - Experience with cleanroom fluid systems, gas cabinets, and wastewater neutralization in solar cell production (preferred) - Understanding of air separation units (ASUs) for nitrogen gas production (preferred) - Certification in process safety or hazardous materials handling (preferred) - Proficiency in fluid dynamics software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Pipe-Flo) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) - Experience with process safety management, including risk assessments and regulatory adherence (preferred) - Strong capacity for teamwork across various disciplines in a fast-paced environment - Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and communicate effectively - Flexibility to adapt roles and responsibilities while maintaining urgency in demanding situations - Innovative thinking to design for reliability, efficiency, and maintainability from the ground up

Responsibilities

- Design, construct, and activate fluid systems for essential gas and chemical distribution in solar cell manufacturing - Oversee projects from inception to completion, including defining requirements, designing systems, justifying decisions, procuring equipment, coordinating builds, managing commissioning, and overseeing project management - Develop modular systems that can be mass-produced for future solar production facilities - Utilize fluid and mechanical engineering skills for P&ID development, equipment sizing, thorough fluid and thermal analysis, system-level CONOPs, structural analysis, and component/material selection - Conduct safety and hazard evaluations to ensure proper hazardous system design, including emergency procedures and compliance with safety standards - Create and implement data acquisition and control systems for monitoring fluid facilities - Collaborate with process engineers to integrate fluid systems with manufacturing equipment and enhance fluid delivery, purity, and recycling to maximize production yield - Assist in the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fluid systems in cooperation with operations, EHS, automation, and procurement teams - Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, ASME, NFPA, and SEMI standards in chemical and gas handling in environments akin to semiconductors - Monitor system performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at lean manufacturing and fluid reuse sustainability
