Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
- Over 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
- Participating in an extracurricular project team focused on designing and constructing mechanical structures
- Conducting academic research related to mechanical structures
- Professional experience in the design and analysis of mechanical structures
- Masters degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering field (preferred)
- Familiarity with GD&T principles and their application
- Proficiency in Unigraphics (NX)
- Experience in performing finite element analysis (FEA)
- Background in designing and analyzing large steel and/or aluminum weldments
- Knowledge in high-pressure fluid system design and analysis (up to 30,000 psi)
- Practical experience in design and fabrication
- Basic programming skills (especially in Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS)
- Experience in data acquisition and controls
- Proven ability to complete projects successfully
Responsibilities
- Develop test stand concepts, including fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation documentation
- Design and evaluate structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
- Oversee the assembly and integration of test stands, including their fabrication and mechanical assembly along with data/control systems
- Operate test stands with utmost precision, as tests allow minimal margin for error requiring strong attention to detail
