Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or physics
- Over 1 year of experience in manufacturing, building, testing, or troubleshooting hardware through professional or project-based experience
- Previous research or professional experience in technical fields is highly desirable
- Familiarity with production processes, factory optimization, and manufacturing techniques
- Experience in instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis
- Practical experience in troubleshooting, building, and testing hardware
- Understanding of core principles in fluid systems and solid mechanics
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
- Willingness to travel to vendors and other SpaceX locations as necessary
- Flexibility to work varying hours and assist during weekends when required
Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the production, assembly, and testing of propulsion, environmental, and thermal control system components for our Falcon projects
- Develop assembly and testing instructions, as well as design fixtures and tooling to facilitate high-rate production
- Design, create, and sustain automated high-pressure testing apparatus
- Challenge existing requirements and drive innovative changes in production processes and hardware
- Collaborate closely with design engineers and technicians, including in-house machine shops and external partners, to create manufacturable parts
- Address and analyze manufacturing and testing discrepancies, working alongside the quality team to resolve design, fabrication, and assembly issues
- Assist in component-level testing including proof and leak checks, fluid flow assessments, and functional evaluations
