Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
- Over 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Participation in extracurricular project teams focused on mechanical fixturing or battery systems
- Academic research related to mechanical structures or batteries
- Professional work experience in designing and analyzing mechanical structures and fixtures
Responsibilities
- Design and create test fixturing concepts, fabrication drawings, and wiring schematics, as well as establish mechanical, thermal, and electrical tests for rapid development of battery packs and cells
- Develop and maintain testing facilities, including abuse and vacuum testing chambers
- Create safety protocols for high voltage applications and various destructive testing of battery cells
- Design test fixtures and data acquisition systems
- Document test plans, procedures, and outcomes
- Provide insights on system-level design considerations
- Design and evaluate structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
- Operate test beds with meticulous attention to detail, as tests have minimal tolerance for error
- Collaborate with the flight engineering team to establish test requirements, develop viable design solutions, and manage the execution of the campaign
