Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline - At least 2 years of experience in the design, manufacturing, or production of mechanical or electrical hardware systems (internships and collegiate projects included) - Preferred: 2+ years of experience in implementing design for manufacture for electromechanical systems - Preferred: 2+ years of professional experience in the design or production of mechanical or electronics hardware systems - Familiarity with creating and delivering presentations for design and manufacturing readiness reviews - Experience in transitioning products from design to manufacturing within a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment - Proficient in 3D CAD software such as NX, Catia, Solidworks, or similar - Knowledge and application of DFMEA and PFMEA methodologies - Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and ability to utilize statistical methods to assess process capability - Competent in SQL databases - Proven experience designing tooling in a manufacturing setting - Hands-on engineering approach with a focus on continuous improvement - Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision, individually or as part of a team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

- Serve as the key communication link between automation, supply chain, production, and development operations to ensure factory infrastructure aligns with program milestones - Conceptualize and implement innovative manufacturing processes and workflows to enhance shop throughput, efficiency, and personnel safety - Oversee the build, configuration, and installation of all modular automation assets, from raw material procurement through to complete cell assembly and transition to production - Collaborate with engineering and support teams to facilitate design updates addressing manufacturing challenges, part obsolescence, and system requirement changes - Produce engineering documentation essential for the transition from development to full-scale production, including assembly procedures and manufacturing bills of materials - Work in partnership with suppliers and internal vendors to manufacture parts and sub-assemblies at the needed rate to meet production objectives - Participate in design reviews, offering expertise in design for manufacturability, reliability, maintenance, supplier capabilities, and quality control - Lead cost reduction initiatives and execute strategies to achieve departmental goals without compromising quality - Design, develop, validate, and implement tooling to ensure efficiency and repeatability - Act as the main point of contact for non-conforming products, troubleshooting, conducting root cause analysis, and managing corrective actions - Establish training requirements for technicians and enhance overall team capabilities and productivity - Innovate and think creatively to support SpaceXs objectives, fostering a mindset of challenging the status quo
